Fellow Youth Workers,
Many youth workers from our district are just coming back from an excellent Winter Blast this past January. We had a great time being a part of what Christ is doing in the lives of our students and ministries throughout the South Atlantic District. This past retreat was quite a blessing, and we are really looking forward to what Christ will continue to do in and through us and in the lives of our students.

Before I go on, in case we haven’t met yet, or you haven’t gotten anything in the mail recently, my name is Rick Rosati, and I am currently the Youth Pastor Point Person for the South Atlantic District. I am part of a team of youth pastors who work in the district as the Youth Commission. We do our best to inform each church of what’s going on in the district as far as youth events are concerned and are willing to assist any church with their youth ministry program if needed. My hope is that we’ll not only get to know each other, but be able to work together to meet the needs of our students both individually and on a district level, working together as the body of Christ in order to see students who don’t know Christ come to Him and for those who do know Him, to mature in their walk with the Lord.

With that in mind, we have invited Kent Julian (The former National Director for Alliance Youth) to come to the district and work with us once again in order to better equip our youth leaders. Many of you will remember Kent from LIFE 2007, as well as the speaker at this past year at Winter Blast. You may also remember Kent from a similar training last year which primarily focused on you, the youth worker. Although there will be some review, ninety percent of the workshop Kent will be doing this year is new material and primarily focused on the youth ministry in which God has called you to serve. Whether you are full-time, part-time, or a volunteer all of us can always use additional equipping in order to better minister to our students through Christ.

We understand that there are many volunteer youth workers through out the district who have full time jobs on top of their commitment to students, and each of you makes a huge impact on the lives of your students. So we’ve done our best to make the weekend concise and inexpensive. The training experience on Saturday, April 19, will start around 8:15 AM with registration, and we should be done around 2:30 PM. We are really thankful for you and hope you’ll be able to attend this exciting workshop. You will also see that there is a Youth Worker Weekend option. This will include a retreat like atmosphere with Kent on Friday night from 6:30-8:00 PM, as well as a fun time following. Note that if you do choose this option, lodging and dinner will not be included.

In this packet, you’ll find a registration form (which you’ll need to make copies of for each person who attends), a brochure on the workshop including a schedule, and list of hotels in the area. You can also access any of this information, as well as download some flyers if you wish, on the district website at www.sadcma.org and click on IOYW icon. You’ll notice on the registration form that the sooner you register, the lower the cost. The cost of the workshop includes a copy of a youth ministry book (IOYW or Youth Ministry Lemonade) and lunch on Saturday. This will be an exciting workshop which you won’t want to miss and a great opportunity to meet other youth workers in the district. Hope to see you there
In Christ,
